Composing A Persuasive Essay On Lowering Drinking Age

If you have been asked to write a persuasive essay about the subject of lowering the drinking age, then you may be wondering how you should approach the paper. Essentially, you need to consider what the requirements of the work are, before you can start to tackle the project.

For example, you may have been asked to write a simple five paragraph paper, or you may have been asked to write a detailed and in-depth research paper. Clearly, there will be a big difference in the amount of writing that you have to do for these two different types of academic paper and, therefore, this is why you need to establish what you need to do.

Once you have a better understanding of what is required of you, you can start to create a plan or skeleton structure of what you need to do. For example, if you do only need to write a simple five paragraph paper, then your plan will involve preparing what you need to write for an introduction paragraph, a conclusion paragraph, and three paragraphs as part of the body section in between. Furthermore, each of these paragraphs in the body section will require a different argument, so you will already know that you need to come up with three different points to discuss, in order to try and persuade the reader as to why the drinking age should be lowered.

Choosing appropriate arguments

When you need to write a persuasive essay, it is important that the arguments that you choose to discuss will support any point of view that you are trying to put across. You should also be aware that you might not necessarily have enough space to include all of the different arguments that you might think are relevant. Therefore, you have to carefully consider each of the different arguments that you can think of, so that you can establish which of them a most likely to persuade the reader.

For example, with a five paragraph paper, you will need to pick the three best arguments that you can think of, which will then be included in each of the paragraphs in the body section.

Deciding which point of view to take

It is worth bearing in mind that, unless you have been told to argue one way or the other, a persuasive essay on lowering the drinking age can potentially refer to whether you support this point of view or are against it. Therefore, you will have to decide which point of view you wish to take before you can start your paper.
